Walking guide (how to leave the plane)

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Introducing a new feature that adds a real twist to flying: deplane! Now, as a pilot, you can leave the cockpit and walk around your aircraft for a manual pre-flight check. You can even use this opportunity to explore famous sights on foot. But how do you actually do it?

How to exit the plane (and other vehicles)

The easiest way to exit the plane is to look for the nearest door. When you sit on the left side of the plane it should be on your left and the same goes for the opposite side. Some aircraft will have doors towards the rear of the aircraft and behind the cockpit. You have to move your camera around the plane to find these.

If you can't find the manual exit, or want to exit the plane quickly, there's a button command you can use. press the SHIFT + C on your keyboard to take control of your character on PC and leave the plane. press the LB+B on an XBOX controller to do the same. Pressing this button combination again will instantly transport you to the cockpit. The plane must be on the ground before you can exit Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

How to change the key strap to ride and sit

1. Go to “Settings”.
2. Go to the 'Controls' tab.
3. Choose your keyboard or controller.
4. In the search bar, type “Take control of the character”
5. Open the current key and assign the entry you want.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 may ask you to save your changed keys as a new preset. If you want to avoid this prompt, copy one of the default game key connection presets and apply your changes to the duplicate. Make sure to copy the 2024 key preset, because the 2020 preset has a bug that removes the unbinding shortcut.

While on the ground, you can interact with the external parts of your aircraft. You need to do this to do some pre-flight checks in career mode. To do this left click your mouse or press A on XBOX. Your pilot automatically has a flashlight for night vision. You can also crouch and sprint.
