Dragon Age: The Veilguard brings back characters like Varric, Solas, the Inquisitor, and Morrigan that we've been waiting for.

There are a few surprises, however, as The Veilguard also brings along a pair of fan-favorite companions.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is out now and after ten years of waiting, fans are wasting no time. Many are already exploring the story and seeing familiar faces along the way.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard spoilers ahead. It's no surprise that BioWare brought back some old characters for The Veilguard. It includes several fan-favorite companions that have been completely left out of the promotional material, making it a nice surprise for fans.
The return of fan-favorite companions in Dragon Age: The Guardian
In the main story, players of Dragon Age: The Veilguard will encounter both Isabela and Dorian. They look a little different given the ten-year time jump between Inquisition and Veilguard, but we can see they're both still trying.
In fact, if you choose the Lords of Fortune background, Isabella will be the target of your faction, so your rook will know her before the story begins. Our favorite pirate queen has certainly kept herself busy between games.
Then there are the returning characters we already knew about. Varrick and Solas are the most obvious, as they appear from the very beginning of the game. There's also the Inquisitor, which returning players can rebuild to resemble their previous game and include some of their own choices. And of course, as revealed in one of the trailers, Morrigan is back, now with a bit of a wardrobe change.
It's remarkable that we have as many returning characters as we do, given how difficult it is to implement them in a way that respects our performances in previous games. That's because, for the first time in the series, The Veilguard doesn't import our entire country and only asks for the three decisions made in Inquisition. This means we can't say anything about our Wardens and Hawkes, making it harder to bring back characters who could have different fates.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is out now and available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the highly anticipated fourth game in BioWare's fantasy RPG series, formerly known as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. It's a direct sequel to Inquisition, focusing on Red Lyrium and Solas, the aforementioned direwolf.
