Upcoming Xbox Series X Games

As the Xbox Series X/S enjoys its latest year, Microsoft’s platform has amassed a respectable library. Consoles typically do not start to flourish until the latter half of their existence, once cross-gen stops being a priority and developers can focus exclusively on crafting projects for only the most modern systems. The Xbox Series X/S has yet to reach that point, although things are moving in that direction.

The last few years have produced plenty of fantastic games, particularly in the open-world genre. Elden Ring, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands were all good or great 2022 releases, and they offered wildly different experiences from each other. The year’s successor largely followed suit with projects like Dead Space, Street Fighter 6, Hi-Fi Rush, Remnant 2, Forza Motorsport, and Lies of P. Meanwhile, 2024 produced plenty of big games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. What upcoming 2025 Xbox games are the most exciting? Which titles are expected to drop in 2025?

Please note that the focus is on the North American release dates of Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One games. Expansions will also be listed.

Updated December 18, 2024: The Game Awards had a few big surprises, some of which are expected to drop in 2025. The upcoming Xbox games were added to the calendar over the last week: Split Fiction, Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark, The First Berserker: Khazan, Okami Sequel, The Witcher 4, Elden Ring Nightreign, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, Turok: Origins, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, Thick as Thieves, Rematch, RoboDunk (XBX/S, Mexico, 1921. A Deep Slumber, Gimmick! 2, Slime Heroes.

Xbox Games Coming Out In December 2024

Marvel Rivals, Indiana Jones, & More

December is not usually a packed month in terms of video game releases. That said, December 2024’s Xbox lineup is not bad, and that primarily comes down to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Also launching on PC, the game is a temporary Xbox console exclusive, allowing Game Pass players to get their hands on the franchise’s first notable project in a long time. The game is fantastic.

December 2024 also has Marvel Rivals, which seems set to become a staple multiplayer hero shooter. Even though these types of releases do not always hit the mark, the Marvel brand should help attract an audience. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered is also exciting. Path of Exile 2 has also entered early access, setting itself up as one of the biggest action RPGs of the year.

Every Major Video Game Release Coming Soon For PC

The PC scene never rests as games are always launching on Steam. Here is every upcoming major PC game set to debut in 2024, 2025, or later.

Xbox Games Coming Out In January 2025

Tales Of Graces, Sniper Elite, & More

January 2025 is not extremely packed with new Xbox games, but it does have a couple of exciting prospects that should keep people busy en route to February 2025’s biggest releases. Dynasty Warriors is the definition of an acquired taste, but Origins looks set to be a leap forward for the hack and slash series, particularly in terms of visuals. Hopefully, it is better than Dynasty Warriors 9.

JRPG fans can check out Tales of Graces f Remastered, which will be the first time this entry will be available on Xbox consoles. Putting aside the story and characters, Tales of Graces f‘s combat is generally regarded as a high point for not just the franchise but also the genre. Synduality: Echo of Ada is a looter shooter with an anime aesthetic and a lot of potential. Finally, Sniper Elite: Resistance should be another reliable entry in Rebellion’s series.

  • January 16: Mexico, 1921. A Deep Slumber (XBX/S)
  • January 16: Morkull Ragast’s Rage (XBX/S)
  • January 16: Things Too Ugly (XBX/S, XBO)

From JRPGs to platform, racing, and fighting titles, here are all the major new PS5 games set to release in 2024, 2025, and later.

Xbox Games Coming Out In February 2025

Avowed, Assassin’s Creed, Monster Hunter, Civilization, & More

Building on the slow but steady start of its predecessor, February 2025 should be massive across all systems. With the financial year ending in March, publishers tend to get any remaining big releases out in the preceding weeks, resulting in a month that feels overstuffed with major names. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Civilization 7 are set to launch on the same day, although they will likely attract fairly different audiences. Both games should require significant time investments, and they are likely to keep players engaged long after February comes to an end.

The long games do not end there, though, as Assassin’s Creed Shadows will debut just a few days later. Ubisoft’s Japan-based project has not enjoyed the smoothest pre-launch life, but it could come together in the end. Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered has the tough task of modernizing and revamping three of the more polarizing entries in the franchise; if done right, Angel of Darkness might finally be worth playing.

Avowed is Xbox’s big console exclusive for February 2025, with the RPG seeming to be Obsidian’s biggest endeavor to date. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii should be a fun and action-packed detour for Sega’s franchise, and February will come to an end with Monster Hunter Wilds. Just an exhausting month, in the best possible way.

Xbox Games Coming Out In March 2025

Suikoden, Tales Of The Shire, & More

Although still early days, March 2025 has a couple of notable upcoming Xbox games already. Two Point Museum should be among the year’s best management games, assuming it comes close to matching the brilliance of Two Point Hospital and Two Point Campus. JRPG fans will be eating well throughout the month, starting with Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster, a compilation that should offer great value for money. Atelier Yumia seems set to be an interesting evolution of Gust’s franchise. While its quality remains to be verified, Tales of the Shire sounds fantastic on paper.

  • March 2025: Football Manager 25 (XBX/S)
  • March 4: Two Point Museum (XBX/S)
  • March 6: Split Fiction (XBX/S)
  • March 6: Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster (XBX/S, XBO)

  • March 27: Atomfall (XBX/S, XBO)
  • March 27: The First Berserker: Khazan (XBX/S)
  • March 27: Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark (XBX/S, XBO)

Xbox Games Coming Out In April 2025

Fatal Fury & More

At the moment, April 2025 is mostly empty, but that should gradually change over the next two months or so. Still, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is a big deal, with SNK’s upcoming fighter seeming set to be a stellar addition to the genre. Mandragora also looks like it could be a great side-scrolling Souls-like.

Major 2025 Xbox Games With No Release Dates

Doom, GTA, & More

2025 is (very slowly) taking shape. While only a tiny percentage of the year’s calendar has been announced, quite a few publishers and developers have confirmed that they have projects that could come out during 2025. Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 6 will almost certainly be the biggest debut of any year, and its launch does not seem that far off. Doom: The Dark Ages, FBC: Firebreak, Little Nightmares 3, Marvel 1943, Borderlands 4, Dinos Reborn, and Mafia: The Old Country could define 2025, assuming they are not delayed.
