Nintendo announced the release date of the new Lego collection
The two franchises of Nintendo and LEGO are teaming up again for several new themed sets that will be released in late January 2025.
A post by user RippleDrive on the LEGO Ideas website details designs for a LEGO PS2 set that has received enough support to be officially considered for mass production by the Danish company. When released, the set will allow PlayStation fans to not only build a PS2 console out of Lego bricks, but also its controllers, memory cards, and internal components. As it stands, the set contains over 2,000 pieces and is close to 1:1 scale compared to the original non-Slim PlayStation 2. While it's unclear if it will be approved by Sony, fans are crossing their fingers that the design will make it to store shelves in the future. According to RippleDrive, they chose the PS2 because it's their favorite video game console of all time, and their video game-related Lego sets have been successful.
User-submitted LEGO PS2 sets may be officially released
Throughout 2024, many video game-inspired LEGO sets have found success with creators around the world taking inspiration from them. Animal Crossing: New Horizons to Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario 64.
