Since it was first released, it's more than fair to say that Mortal Kombat 1 has had a pretty rough ride. While the gameplay and story were largely praised by fans and critics (myself included), the “predatory” microtransactions and lack of content put it in a bad spot for most of its first year. While things improved over time, they fell apart after the Khaos Reigns expansion.

As great as the new characters are, Khaos Reigns was largely a step down from Mortal Kombat 11's Aftermath DLC due to its lackluster story. This response appears to have resulted in low sales, as a reliable source recently claimed that all DLC planned for Mortal Kombat 1 has now been cancelled.
The canceled Mortal Kombat 3 Pack 1 focused more on MK Fighters
Along with more story expansions, the canceled DLC included a third combat pack that added six more characters to the game. As pointed out by Twitter user thethiny, the leaker who said Warner Bros. has ended Mortal Kombat 1's _FateUnknown_ DLC has now revealed who will be included in the pack and shared details about the rest of the installments. has put Game programs
According to FateUnknown, Combat Pack 3 will focus more on Mortal Kombat characters, featuring Cassie Cage, Sonya Blade, Kano, Jade, and Kung-Jin, who have been rumored to be joining the roster for some time. A sixth character could have been a guest fighter, though it seems they weren't satisfied.
The guest fighter could have been a “highly requested” character, which could really mean anyone. Justice for Ash Williams is all I have to say.
Beyond revealing the fighters planned for Kombat Pack 3, _FateUnknown_ also says that NetherRealm Studios really wanted to complete and release the DLC, and the developers aren't happy with the cancellation. Khaos Reigns' low sales figures aren't the only reason for the DLC's cancellation, but it's a big one.
That seems to be all we get from _FateUnknown_ regarding Mortal Kombat 1, as they also confirmed that they will no longer have any information about NetherRealm games. It's worth noting that the NRS has yet to confirm the authenticity of this leak, although many people seem to take it as fact.
