The Battlefield series has always been toe-to-toe with Call of Duty in the military first-person shooter genre. It delivered great titles in terms of both campaign and multiplayer, but saw a sharp decline with the rough launch of Battlefield 2042. While Battlefield 1 is widely considered the last good game in the series, it was the true peak of the company's bad days.

The Battlefield series reached its peak with Bad Company 2
A love letter to DICE's unconventional spin-off.
Bad Company 1 and 2 focused more on the campaign and told the story of an army company with great chemistry and memorable characters like Captain Price, Soap and the Call of Duty gang. While we never got a third installment in the Battlefield: Bad Company series, lead designer David Goldfarb would love to work on it.
“I'm right here”
Speaking to PCGamesN, Goldfarm, who now works at Metal Hellsinger studio The Outsiders, said that if EA wanted to make Bad Company 3, he would jump at the chance to work on it.
“I'm here,” Goldfarb said. If they want to do this, they know where I am.” He reiterated that while he would love to work on Bad Company 3, he is currently committed to The Outsiders, currently working on an unannounced project. However, he explained what made Bad Company such a great game at the time.
“I think the Bad Company franchise was special because it didn't take itself too seriously like a lot of other games,” he explained. What I liked, so Bad Company 2 as a friendly shot, was Raiders of the Lost Ark, and the multiplayer leaned heavily towards Rush because that's what I liked the most.
I can't speak for anyone else, but I know there was a collective feeling that we had our own identity for Bad Company, weird or not, and we had fun making it. “It's really something like a miracle that we have to do it.”
Goldfarb revealed that he started writing Battlefield: Bad Company 3 and even knew where it would take place. However, he does not think that a new game in the series will be confirmed today.
“Like all these places, that's why we don't see those kinds of games anymore, because the economics and the risk aversion and all that stuff drives people away from it. In a lot of ways, Bad Company 2 was a perfect storm, but I don't know if we could have Let's do it again.
