Sure, Dragon Age is a dark series. But you know what it is too? cute and precious Romance has been a part of games since the beginning, and it's just as much an opportunity for quiet encounters with your beloved as heartbreaking betrayals. Ah, young love.

Make sure you don't miss these opportunities for romance in your favorite games.
But between the racial drama and unfortunate revelations that are, for some reason, mostly exclusive to witches, there are moments of genuine bliss that you can find with some truly adorable love interests. But which one of them gives the best moonshine throughout the series?
9 Sebastian
When you dance, leave enough space for the maker
Yes, it's Sebastian. This church boy is a little pathetic in many ways even outside of his introduction in Dragon Age 2, though in the game it's fun to drive him from Kirkwall during a war table mission. You also meet him taking revenge on the murderers of his family. You know, typical Dragon Age fare. But it's not about that, it's about useful things.
Sebastian is fiercely devoted to the Chantry, and along with a lifetime of guilt and self-loathing from that hidden upbringing, it also comes with some beautiful romantic implications. Her path in this regard is chaste, completely focused on being together with Hawke and supporting each other. It's tame, but adorable, with a vengeance.
8 Alistair
His flirting technique is Snark And Panic
You know how Sebastian never deviates from his Chantry teachings? Alistair is not so afraid of “licking a lamp post in winter”. Despite her Chantry upbringing, she's a bit more adventurous when it comes to romance. Admittedly, when you meet him in Dragon Age: Origins, Alistair has done nothing to shy away from his duties as a rookie Gray Warden.

So it's understandable that when you start flirting with him, he gets adorably overwhelmed, to the point where his usual banter is replaced by a confused stutter. Just watching her progress is such a pure experience. But he's also incredibly romantic, to the point where he sacrifices himself to save your life at the end of the game in one of Dragon Age's most heartbreaking moments (if you bring him with you to the final battle). Honestly, this section is not helpful.
7 Cassandra
He likes to take you out
Cassandra is a fierce warrior who runs the titular organization in Dragon Age: Inquisition. He spent the previous game interrogating fan favorite Warrick. He is also a hopeless romantic who wants nothing more than to fall in love and read poetry together in the moonlight.
After dozens of hours of fighting alongside Cassandra and witnessing her tireless determination, you'll have the chance to romance her, assuming you've flirted with her the entire time (feat). But all she wants is for you to do it in the most beautiful way possible, by looking for flowers and love poems for her. Sure, it was his idea, but this crack at his unique appearance is one of the game's most precious moments.
6 Josephine
Who doesn't start a relationship with a duel?
Arguably, Josephine is more interested in the idea of traditional romance than Cassandra. But since this is still Dragon Age, there's always more to it. If you want to be her lover, you must duel her with a match arranged by her family. This is a story as old as time.

But aside from the family drama, her whole romance is very rewarding. If you saw those romance book covers as a kid, you probably fantasized about them before you even discovered the word “concern.” Kisses are cute, cuddling is symbolic, and it's even a great non-sexual romance option for those looking for it.
5 Merrill
He is in Eluvian with you
Cuteness and health can coexist with chaos and blood magic. This is where Meryl shines. In Dragon Age 2, he starts out as this awkward and admittedly nervous mage who helps you on your way. In the end, he's an awkward, neurotic wizard who may or may not have killed his entire clan with forbidden research.
But just focusing on her love, she's just one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. She's easy to fall in love with, and the way she just says “I love you!” After your first night together, it's very pure. This healthy nature is there even if you are not in love with her, but the sweetness of her personality is multiplied tenfold by the power of her lovey dove eyes.
4 Cullen
If nothing else, it makes a nice pillowcase
You might not expect the commander of the Inquisition to be particularly sweet and gentle. But given Cullen's history, it's more like what he needs from a relationship. He's been hurt many times more than a single person in charge of an army, but, luckily, you're on his side.
If you're playing as a human or an elf inquisitor, you can start with a romantic Cullen. There are a lot of cute scenes, but the fact that she takes you to a romantic spot and gives you her lucky coin is probably the sweetest possible, like a kitten giving you her favorite choker. brings
3 my head
You are his rock, he is your many arrows
It might be a bit of a stretch to say that Sera is safe, but as one of the most hated party members in an RPG, she's unfortunately used to being misunderstood. Many players were put off by Sera's quirks, but those who were intrigued and chose her as a romance (assuming they were playing as a female character) found the sweetest content in the entire series.

Dragon Age: Funniest Moments, Ranked
These iconic Dragon Age moments are sure to make you laugh.
First, Serah writes about the Inquisition in her diary during a romance, and you can tell how surprised she is. But beyond that, he often lets his insecurities show and expresses how his beloved Inky is his rock that keeps him from spiraling. Many Nerd players will likely recognize these behaviors and mindsets, even if Sera is never confirmed as such. Although his endless jokes are definitely less so.
2 Dorian
There is no distance for the love of this fantasy
Perhaps one of the most fascinating mysteries hidden in Dragon Age: Inquisition is the relationship between Dorian and the Iron Bull, whose budding romance unfolds entirely through party pranks. But if you can bear to ignore that perfectly “adorable” pair, you might find yourself in for a storm of cuteness.
Dorian's romance is truly heartfelt for any Inquisitor who loves her enough to pursue it. It's a bit dramatic at times, as you're dealing with his father trying to “cure” his homosexuality through blood magic, and later finding out that Dorian needs to return to Twinter. But he shows that he really cares and wants nothing more than to be with you regardless of the distance.
1 Liliana
Like a love poem written in blood (don't worry, it's not his)
Forget the sneaky Leliana assassin from Dragon Age: Inquisition. In her first appearance in Dragon Age: Origins, she was the most cheerful and optimistic young woman you'll ever meet. It was as if nothing else in the world mattered when talking about the warden as his romantic partner. Sure, he still did a lot of sneaking and assassinations, but let's not get bogged down in the details.
Her flirtatious manner was as sweet and modest as you would expect from a lady who had been raised so religiously. He would compliment your supervisor's hair and make subtle points, occasionally teasing them for their lack of attention to detail. But her lover remained foremost in her mind, and she always spoke of it with such praise that it never wavered, even a decade later when she became far more sarcastic.
