Key foods
- There are many crews in the world of One Piece Pirate Adventure, some with many and some with only a few prominent figures.
- A few crews in particular have a very prominent main character as their captain but no exploration beyond that.
- Drake Pirates is a good example of a crew that could develop further in the future.
The pirate crew arrives each piece Due to the nature of the series, they are one of the most prominent groups in it. Even if a crew is not fully surveyed, usually at least a few members outside of the captain are identified to give the crew a further look.
However, this is not always the case. There are a handful of crews in the series that only mention one crew and otherwise tend to focus on individual members of each crew. This list looks at some of the crew that are mostly unknown and obscure, with their captain usually being the only exception. Often times, if a crew is anonymous, it is mainly due to the limited nature of the captain's importance.
6 Pirates in the air
Captain: Scratchman Apo
- the first: Chapter 498 (Manga), Episode 392 (Anime)
- The main ship: Stay informed
The crew was one of ten whose captains qualified for the Worst Generation, which meant a certain level of prestige as a crew. They seem to originate from the Grand Line, and many of them have clothing similar to that worn by the Manchu people throughout history. Their captain is Scratchman Apo, who excels in the worst generation. Like many crews of their worst generation, the On Air Pirates eventually found themselves at the mercy of an emperor, Kaido of the Beasts Pirates.
As a result, they joined his crew and eventually formed a fake alliance with the Worst Generation crew, the Kid Pirates and the Hawkins Pirates, adding their final crew to the Beasts Pirates. Apo himself is shown to have no real loyalty to the beast pirates, clinging to the crew largely out of fear, and having little real loyalty to them.
5 Brownbeard Pirates
Captain: Chadros “Brownbeard” Higligs
- the first: Chapter 581 (Manga), Chapter 490 (Anime)
- The main ship: Charles Martel
The crew first appeared shortly after the War of the Chiefs, where the death of Whitebeard led Brownbeard to claim Foodwalten, an area formerly protected by Whitebeards. However, they were defeated by Basil Hawkins, captain of the Hawkins Pirates and one of the 12 pirates known as the Worst Generation.
After reaching Punk Hazard, Trafalgar D. Water Law used his powers to save their lives and turn them into centaurs. The crew subsequently served as Caesar the Clown's underlings and held him and Law in high regard. However, Brownbeard eventually found out that Caesar was using them. Unfortunately, the crew, except for Brownbeard, were exposed to potentially fatal Shinokuni gas. However, after Caesar the Clown is defeated, Smoker allows Brownbeard to release his crew before he dies, as long as he accepts capture.
4 Pirates of the fallen monk
Captain: Uroj
- the first: Chapter 498 (Manga), Episode 392 (Anime)
- The main ship: Hanjumaru
This crew of the worst generation hails from the Sky Islands, although it is unclear exactly which island they originate from. True to their name, Fallen Monk pirates tend to wear clothing reminiscent of those who adhere to religion. One anonymous member even has a tonsure, a hairstyle associated with monks in which the top of the head is shaved. Their captain is the “Mad Monk” Uroj, a mysterious being himself, and little is known about him, aside from an unknown Devil Fruit power and an ever-present smile.
Despite the fact that the Oruge and the names of her crew indicate a deviation from orthodoxy. They seem to be at least somewhat religiously inclined, as Uroj prayed for Kaido after witnessing him attempt suicide. They were able to defeat the Emperor's top bronze, as Charlotte Snake of the Great Mother Pirates was demoted from her sweet commander rank due to her loss to Oruge. However, they were forced to retreat after losing to Crocker, another Shirin commander.
While it's unclear if the crew will progress further than they currently are, it's safe to assume that at least Oruge will get more development in the story, as he's now the only member of the Worst Generation who hasn't interfered with Luffy.
3 Space pirates
Captain: Seamars
- the first: Chapter 438 (Manga; Cover Story)
- The main ship: unknown
Space pirates are an alien crew that look like animals. Their known piracy includes drilling on the moon. They are only shown in the cover story. Enel's big space operationacts as its effective antagonists. The space pirates previously caused an explosion on the moon that killed a Dr. Tsukimi from shock-induced asphyxiation. His creatures, the four automatons, decided to travel to the moon for revenge, but they were no match for the space pirates.
Enel manages to revive one of the four automatons named Spacey, who leads him to Seamars, the pirate captain who defeated him. Enel berates Simarz for desecrating the moon and defeats him easily, with the Logia Devil Fruit preventing him from being hit by most attacks. Enel eventually attacks the entire crew for good, effectively ending their operations on the moon. Enel took over the moon, the fabled fairy of her people's legends, with her newly discovered automata acting as minions.
2 A pirate ship
Captain: X Drake
- the first: Chapter 498 (Manga), Episode 392 (Anime)
- The main ship: Liberal India
X-Drake himself, the son of a pirate, defected from his father's crew to the Marines. He was mentored by the former admiral of the Sengoku fleet and eventually rose to the rank of rear admiral. Despite this fact, he eventually returned to piracy and formed the Drake Pirates, one of the worst crews of the generation. His crew have a European aesthetic and are designed to resemble swordsmen.
Piracy was seen when he tried to raid one of Kaido's favorite areas, in an apparently successful attempt to provoke him. Since then, Drake has risen up the chain of command in the Beasts Pirates, earning the rank of Tobiroppo, the third rank in the crew. However, after the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai War was declared against Kaido, Drake was eventually forced to break away from the Beast Pirates and was accused of disloyalty.
It turns out that, in fact, Drake is the captain of SWORD, a black ops unit for retired Marines to carry out covert operations on behalf of the World Government. His choice to side with Luffy was partly out of respect for Kobe, who is also a member of SWORD. It is not clear how to reconcile his ploy as a pirate with the existence of his crew. It is possible that they are also members of SWORD, but since this is not explicitly stated, it is equally possible that they are unaware of the truth. Drake was recently seen recuperating in a naval hospital, raising the question of whether or not he can continue as a pirate.
1 Most of the subordinate crew
Captain: Various
- the first: Varies by character, conceptually introduced around chapter 551 (manga) and episode 460 (anime).
- The main ship: It varies based on personality
Sub crew are those who serve under another crew. They are usually used by emperors to further enhance their power and influence. Members are not technically part of the crew they serve under and maintain their own chain of command. However, depending on which crew they are in charge of, their exact relationship to the crew they serve under varies.
The underling crew was first shown in depth in Marineford, with many of the Whitebeards taking part in boss battles. Here, in addition to many of Whitebeard's division commanders and crew, a number of subordinate crews also take the field. Whitebeard's subordinate captains are Little Oars Jr., Whitey Bay, AO, and Squard. A handful of sub-captains are confirmed to have been Whitebeard Pirates themselves before they formed their own crews.
The Peachbeard Pirates are the only known crew under the Blackbeard Pirates. They are shown to be strong enough to defeat the Marines stationed in the Kingdom of Lolucia, but are eventually taken down by four Revolutionary Army officers. It is said that Blackbeard does not care about his subordinate crew.
The Red Haired Pirates are known for having a weak underling crew. Examples of such are the Bourgeois Pirates (led by Pororo), the Social Club (led by Fugar), and the Poodle Pirates (led by Grotini). It's possible Shanks is trying to use his fame to protect them, just like Whitebeard. With its realms, however, for now, this is merely speculation.
It should be noted that not all subordinate crews are included in this category. The Sun Pirates and Fire Tank Pirates, despite previously serving under Big Mom, have multiple named members due to more relevance to the story. Additionally, all seven crews in the Straw Hat Grand Fleet have multiple members for this reason.
