The Nintendo DS is one of the most interesting handheld consoles ever released. Not only does it use only two screens, but it also uses built-in touch mechanics and a microphone. This opened the door to some unique entries in the console lineup that have only been seen in that era since.

While the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon spin-off franchise is finally leaving the Nintendo DS, Pokemon Ranger is still rooted in the system. This game changes the pokemon rules by having it so you can't catch pokemon permanently.
Instead, you just calm them down and ask them to help you boost your Capture Styler or get rid of obstacles. The entire game revolves around using the touch screen to draw circles around angry Pokemon without letting them touch the lines you draw. Given that the Nintendo Switch has a touch screen and motion controls, it's surprising that Pokemon Rangers is still stuck on the Nintendo DS.

The best Nintendo DS games for every year of the console's life
The Nintendo DS was a great console and these are the best titles it received during its eleven year run. Only one game a year.
Kirby Superstar Ultra is a remake of Kirby Superstar from the Super Nintendo era. With updated graphics and using a touch screen interface, this is one of the games that is not presented in 3D. Race with King Dedede to eat the most snacks or play as Meta Knight to become the greatest warrior in the galaxy, with so many modes to choose from, it's a shame that the ultimate version of Kirby Superstar is locked .

Mario & Luigi Partners in Time is the sequel to the Superstar Mario & Luigi saga. While the game doesn't benefit much from having a touch screen, it does benefit from having a screen on top for extended battles.
The game is unique among the Mario and Luigi series in that it brings together child versions of the characters riding on the backs of their adult counterparts. They also have their own unique abilities that help you explore each location further. As the mushroom kingdom of the past is threatened by alien invaders, only the heroes of the future can step back and save the day.

Pokemon Conquest is one of the most experimental games in this franchise. It's also a Pokemon game that you can easily forget exists. This game helps you move Pokemon around a board to get them to strategic spaces. When you get close enough to the enemy, you can attack it.
As in the original games, some types of Pokemon are stronger than others, which affects who you choose to go after each enemy. There is also a brand new region and 17 kingdoms to conquer. Each area has unique obstacles, partners, and Pokemon. If you want to unite the whole nation, you have to have a strategy and respond to every move of the opponent.

Elite Beat Agents appeared once in the lifetime of the Nintendo DS, then disappeared entirely. The gameplay is as simple as that. All you have to do is time your taps to the beat and the icons that appear on the touch screen. It is a wonderful rhythm game with humorous scenarios in the background.

WarioWare Touched is one of the best titles in the series, because it can use the game mechanics that Nintendo DS has. When Wario's Game Boy Advance falls into the sewer, an old man offers to give him back a newer console or device.
Wario being greedy decides to steal them both. However, using a two-screen, button-less console, Wario begins to create mini-games that force the player to sketch, slash, and tap their way to victory. The game also uses a microphone for unique gameplay that requires the player to blow air to win. This groundbreaking game was designed for the DS, so it only makes sense to experience it on a handheld.

Princess Peach: Showtime isn't the only game where Princess Peach takes center stage. Back in the Nintendo DS era, she was the star of her first handheld adventure, Super Princess Peach. This time, Mario and Luigi are both captured while Bowser tries to create a summer home on Vibe Island.
Now, using the power of emotions, Peaches must go through each level, find the missing toads and defeat the bosses that hinder her progress. Vibes can be activated from the touch screen. Each one allows him to do something different, such as floating through the air with glee, drowning in burning rage, or unleashing water to solve hydraulic puzzles.
