The Assassin's Creed Shadows team is full of youngsters
It's been a bit of a rocky development cycle for Assassin's Creed Shadows. Despite “very strong” pre-orders, backlash from a vocal minority about the game's heroes continues, prompting members of the development team to speak out. The release of Star Wars Outlaws didn't help Shadows' fortunes either, as the game's poor reception meant that the latest Assassin's Creed title was delayed just two months before release.
Now, during a keynote speech, as spotted by The Outerhaven, the show's executive producer has spoken about the team and its vision for the game.
“I've noticed since the pandemic, we have a lot of young people on our teams. Experience has decreased globally. Probably half of the team making Assassin's Creed is making a game for the first time,” he said.

While Kote would never outright state that this caused problems in the development of Assassin's Creed Shadows, he did share that it meant that internal perceptions of the game were skewed.
“You have to explain to them that even though they're playing the game right now, and they think it's the worst they've ever seen, it's going to be okay. We're going to get there. I've been there. A leader. ”
Côté points to the fact that while Shadows may be rough right now, things tend to click when it comes to launch.
I remember the first time I played Assassin's Creed. It was July, the game was shipping in October. I thought, 'There's no way I'm going to submit this game,' then it got a 91 on Metacritic.”
With a little less than three months to go, we're in the same timeframe that Cote was working on with the aforementioned Assassin's Creed title. This means that, all going well, the industry veteran is still confident in the product he and his team are producing.
