It turns out that the man Yamamoto thought was Yuvach was just another underling impersonating King Quincy. Before Yamamoto could reveal the betrayal, Yhwach used all of his power in a short slash that cut the Captain-Commander from the shoulder to the waist, leading to one of the series' most iconic scenes that fans will remember.
