About the team

Subnautica 2 was developed by Unknown Worlds, an entirely remote studio that traces its roots back to Half-Life 2002's Natural Selection mode. This is the same studio that created the original Subnautica. The team is spread all over the world, from the United States to the United Kingdom, France, Iceland, Austria, Australia, Canada, India and many other places.

Early access development

Subnautica 2 will be an Early Access game, meaning it will be in active development at the time of release. You may encounter bugs, developing features, and performance issues.
