In the last part of Bleach: The Thousand Year Blood WarGotei 13's newly appointed captain, Shunsui Kyoraku, heads to the underground prison beneath Squad 1's barracks, Muken. There, while his best friend, Captain Okitake, makes a deal with the god, Mimigahi, to save the Soul Society, Shunsui makes a deal with the devil, Sousuke Aizen. Kyoraku speaks to Aizen shortly before releasing him from his seal to ask him to help the Gotti 13 fight the Yoach. Shunsui knows that there is no one as good as Aizen except Ichigo and they need all the help they can get.

It's been two years since Aizen was sealed away following his epic battle against Ichigo's Danga at the hands of Keisuke Urahara. And yet, he's still a being on a completely different level than anyone else on the battlefield except for Ichigo and Yuach. While Aizen has always been a level above the average shinigami, his fusion with the Hogyoku has given him superhuman strength beyond anyone else in the world. bleach.

An anomaly, a being beyond anything else

When Sousuke Aizen was born, the balance of souls was disturbed. Aizen is an anomaly in every sense of the word. He should not exist. From before birth, he was a being beyond any other Shinigami. But he knew how to hide this and enrolled in the Shinigami Academy, joining Goti 13 and serving as Vice Captain of Squad 5 under Shinji Hirako. After the Hollowfication experiments destroyed the lives of shinigami who would become Vizored, Aizen became the captain of Squad 5, with Momo Hinamori later his vice-captain. Using his Zanpakutou, Kyouka Suigetsu, he faked his own death and betrayed the Gotei 13, killing every single member of the Central 46.

During his battle with Goti 13 in the fake Karakura Town Arc, Aizen easily defeated all of the members of the force except for former Commander Yamamoto. All this without using Kidou's complex techniques, which he's an expert at, or even his bank if he even has one. The only enemy Aizen saw close to him in power was Yamamoto, and he created an experimental Arrancar called Vanderweiss Margara to counter him.

He then begins to evolve into a transcendent being that fuses with Hogyoku. He easily fights against Urahara, Isshin Kurosaki, and Yoruichi Shihouin while also transforming. After he reaches a new stage of evolution, his power is such that he completely obliterates any human that comes close to him. After being betrayed by Jin Ichimaru, he evolves once more and reaches a monstrous final transformation when fighting the newly evolved Ichigo. He is hit by Ichigo's Final Getsuga Tenshou: Mugetsu. And still, he survives. He is sealed away by Urahara and the New Central 46 sentences him to 18,800 years in Moken.

There, Aizen fused with Hogyoku, quietly reforming his powers and completely discarding the physical form of his Zanpakutō, Kyouka Suigetsu. When Yuach visited him during the first Quincy attack, he was able to use his Zanpakutō powers simply by looking at him. Aizen has merged with his Zanpakutou and Hogyouku.

Thanks to his fusion with the Hogyoku and his transcendent evolution, Sousuke Aizen is the most powerful Shinigami to ever exist, aside from Ichigo Kurosaki, a completely different case. Aizen can show his powers easily, without needing to release his Shikai. His mastery over Kido has also increased. He can cast very powerful Kidou spells without spells. Shunsui also only opened three seals on Aizen: the mouth, left eye, and ankle. Meaning most of Aizen's body is still sealed. It is merely part of his full power. Yhwach had previously revealed that Aizen was one of the threats of the Special War. This is due to Aizen's almost infinite strength and mental pressure. He is invincible, fused with his Hogyoku, fused with his Zanpakutō, and a refined version of his transcendental evolution.
