- Silent Hill fans have had nothing but doubts since it was revealed that Blubber is remaking Silent Hill 2.
- Against all odds, however, it seems to have actually managed it, as early access players have nothing but good things to say.
- The game's Steam page currently sits on Steam with “overwhelmingly positive” reviews, which is quite a feat.
Silent Hill 2's digital deluxe launch on Steam seems to be a success, as it's currently sitting at “Overwhelmingly Positive” reviews, far from what most fans expected.
From the first moment it was revealed that Bloober Team were the ones behind the long-rumored Silent Hill 2 remake, it's fair to say that almost everyone had their doubts. Bloober has certainly put out some good games, but its approach to horror has been much more blunt and heavy-handed than the subtlety of Silent Hill.
Against all odds, however, it looks like Bloober has actually managed to remake Silent Hill 2 as it deserves, earning much higher critical scores than any of us expected. It also seems to be a hit with players, as early adopters have nothing but good things to say.
Silent Hill 2 launches with “overwhelming positives” on Steam
Although Silent Hill 2 won't be available for most players until October 8th, those who purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game will have access to it a few days early. That said, player reviews are starting to trickle in, and like most reviewers, they seem pretty positive so far.
As pointed out by Twitter user HazzadorGaminthe Steam page for Silent Hill 2 has been launched with “overwhelmingly positive” reviews from players. As of this writing, 2097 reviews have been written, of which only 103 have been negative. Considering how the Silent Hill 2 remake has looked since it was announced, this is a very surprising result.
The positive reviews seem to all agree with that sentiment, with many noting that they were amazed at how well Bloober managed to capture the spirit of the original game. One review says Bloober has “nailed it”, while another says it's “a remake done right”. It seems that maybe we were all wrong to judge Blobber so soon.
As for the few negative reviews, they all seem to focus on technical issues with the PC version of the game, with several mentioning performance issues and issues running it on their system. However, this will not be universal, so it seems that the general consensus is even more positive than the reviews.
