Shark bite injures woman off Sandland Island, Jurien Beach in Western Australia

A woman has been bitten by a 2m long tiger shark in waist deep water of the Western Australian coast.

She was in water off Sandland Island at Jurien Beach about 11.30am on Monday when she was attacked.

It’s understood she has serious leg injuries, The West Australian reported.

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) received a report about 11.45am, and is now working with authorities on a response to the incident.

WA residents have been advised to take additional caution in the Sandland Island and Jurien Bay area.

Those who see a shark can report a sighting to Water Police at 9442 8600.
