Nico Robin's background was already one of the best each piece. In the Enies Lobby arc, fans were shown where Robin was revealed to be from O'Hara Island, which was targeted by the World Government some 22 years ago. On O'Hara Island, there were many scientists, and like any researcher in archaeology, their research often involved matters of history. However, it was clear to them that the history they were studying was a fabrication and much of it had been covered up by the World Government.
O'Hara fought the world! – Saul
Naturally, they wanted to search for the truth and eventually found out that the Pongliphs had the truth. On O'Hara Island, an investigation was conducted into the ancient kingdom and its mysterious disappearance, as well as the creation of the world government. The news of this research was published. However, the World Government invaded the island and turned it into dust, completely wiping it off the face of the earth. In the midst of it all, Nico Robin's fans saw a young man caught up in the turmoil. Having already been left behind by her parents, Robin had to grow up in a very harsh environment where, despite being quite young, she had no one to really lean on.
Worst of all, almost everyone persecuted him and called him a devil. If there was one thing that comforted Robin, it was the fact that he was hanging out with other researchers and archaeologists, and that was simply because Robin loved to read. Robin was a genius, so much so that at the age of eight, he was accomplished by passing an excellent exam. Robin had even learned how to read glyphs, and his passion was to find out the true history of the world, just like everyone else on the island and this is what led to the greatest tragedy of his life. After finding a family among the O'Hara scientists and a mysterious giant washed up on the island's shores called Saul, Robin finally started a happy life until it all came crashing down when the government attacked.
In the end, O'Hara was completely destroyed, and Robin only survived because Kuzan saved her life. Saul, his benefactor, was frozen to the bone on the island and left to die. All the other scholars were murdered and all of Ohara's people were mercilessly slaughtered by Akainu. Robin became the last known researcher left on the island and had to live with 79 million berries on his head ever since. Despite being just a child, Robin faced countless betrayals and lived in fragments, and this is where Oda added new depth to her story.
