Nintendo is reportedly taking control of the Switch Emulator website

Key foods

  • Nintendo won't look twice at any person, group or company that dares to negatively impact its brand.

  • After previously being featured on a Switch emulator website, it now appears that Nintendo effectively owns the domain behind it.

  • Nintendo has effectively shut down two of the Switch's biggest piracy scenes with its recent actions.

They say that there are certain things in life, such as death and taxes. But if you're a gamer, you can add Nintendo to protect its brand and follow anyone who dares to do so.

Over the years, we've seen Nintendo come down hard on several individuals or groups. In the past, the Japanese company took down websites that offered ROMs, and one site lost $12 million in damages. Nintendo has also cut back on streamers, including the revealing streamer. Oh, and let's not forget the ongoing suit between Palworld and Nintendo.

Nintendo is missing the point by going for the Switch emulation

By going after emulation software, Nintendo is only hindering its legacy.

In other words, don't work with Nintendo. That said, after looking for a Switch emulation site recently, it looks like Nintendo has now won its battle for good.

Your website belongs to Mario

As first spotted on GamesRadar, Nintendo apparently owns the Ryujinx website domain. This comes just a month after Nintendo previously went after the site and its developers.

As it stands, the site, which is simply ryujinx.org, cannot be accessed by conventional means. In fact, trying to go to the website is a lost cause because nothing will load.

But if you dig deeper into Ryujinx, a cursory Whois search reveals that the website is now owned by Nintendo. It states that ownership was updated on November 7th, though it's likely that Nintendo had some kind of control before then.

It's highly unlikely that Ryujinx, as we know it, will ever return. But what it does show is that Nintendo is certainly in control of the domain to prevent any kind of resurgence or copying. This move, along with Nintendo's effective shutdown of Yuzo, means that the Big N has essentially eliminated two major types of piracy for its products. Like we said, don't work with Nintendo. They can and will come for you.
