For Necromancers, Book of the Dead specifically allows you to modify your three minion types (Warrior, Mage, Golem) to give them new abilities, or sacrifice them entirely for passive stat boosts. After several updates since Diablo 4's release, the Book of the Dead system still basically works, but most of the specs have been updated over the past six seasons. How to unlock the book of the dead

Book of the Dead is one of the easiest class mechanics to unlock Diablo 4 Because it only has one condition: reaching level 5. Upon reaching level 5, players can see their book of the dead one sheet from the character/creature page. The home screen has three categories: Skeleton Warriors, Skeleton Wizards, and Golems.

When a Necromancer clicks on one of these categories, another screen appears, this time with the three subclasses available for that type of summon. Upgrades to these subtypes and additional subtypes are obtained automatically with each level up to level 25. At that point, players must learn how to summon a golem through a unique quest line called “Call of the Underworld” that brings the Necromancer. Return to Ratma's shrine in Broken Peaks to learn a new ritual.

Necromancer minions automatically inherit 30% of the player's stats, with some exceptions. All three summons have three subtypes that have a short path of optional upgrades. Skeletal Warriors can transform into Skirmishers, Defenders, or Reapers, while Skeletal Mages can take on Shadow, Cold, or Bone abilities. Golems can evolve into Bone, Blood, or Iron Golems, each of which are unlocked after the initial questline.

Skeletal Warriors specs and upgrades

  • Skeletal Skirmishers: Deals +30% damage, but has -15% life
    • Option 1: Gain +1 Max Skeletal Skirmisher that can be summoned at once
    • Option 2: Player Crits cause Skirmishers to deal 50% extra Crit damage on their next hit.
    • The ability to sacrifice: Sacrifice Skeletal Reapers to gain to increase your crit chance by 10%.
  • Skeleton defenders: Gains 15% life
    • Option 1: Your skeleton defenders taunt nearby enemies every 6 seconds
    • Option 2: Skeletal Defenders take 99% less damage
    • Sacrifice abilityy: Sacrifice skeletal defenders to gain 25% non-physical resistance.
  • Skeletal reapers: Can perform a massive AoE power attack every 10 seconds
    • Option 1: Skeletal Reaper's inflate attack reduces one of your cooldowns by 3 seconds.

Make it a priority to unlock Torment 1 difficulty in Diablo 4 for the best chance at high-level loot and increase your Gold and XP gains.

Skeletal Mages specs and upgrades

  • Shadow Mages: Cast Shadow Bolts, dealing Shadow damage
    • Option 1: +10% chance to faint
    • Option 2: Additional shadow screw every five screws

  • Cold mugs: Cold damage and inflicts Chill and Freeze on enemies
    • Option 1: Damage dealt by Cold Mages regenerates 3 of your Essence

  • golem bone: Can be activated to taunt enemies into attacking it
    • Option 1: Activating Golem spawns 5x corpses
    • Option 2: Every 3 seconds, if the Bone Golem takes damage, it creates powerful bone spikes (deals extra damage and causes vulnerability)
    • The ability to sacrifice: Sacrifice Bone Golem to gain 15% attack speed

    • Option 1: 30% of the player's damage is transferred to Blood Golem
