Overwatch and Marvel Rivals share almost the same DNA, at least enough for former Blizzard boss Mike Ybarra to tweet and then delete a salty post claiming it was an “Overwatch clone.” Given that the two games share a similar genre, this was always going to happen, although that doesn't seem to be the only thing Marvel Rivals shares with its rival.
Many characters in Marvel Rivals act like Overwatch characters. Scarlet Witch is just a mix of Reaper and Moira, while Mantis is clearly a Zenyatta/Ana hybrid. So it makes sense that the tactics used in Overwatch would also work in Marvel Rivals, and players are already using one of Overwatch's worst tactics (thanks GamesRadar).
You can never escape the goat
Overwatch fans who have been around since day one may remember the infamous GOAT era of the Overwatch League, where teams used three tanks and three healers to get through the opposition, albeit very slowly. It was a real pain at the time and eventually forced Blizzard to limit the number of tanks on a team.
Marvel Rivals has no such restrictions – with no role queues or role locks to be seen – meaning the GOAT meta has made a comeback. Although not as common now, there are sounds of the GOAT meta making a comeback (Ominously predicted by Twitter user Jonunderscor), with players like Twitter user TheChowderhead Sharing the victory page of the team that was wiped out by this tactic.

It takes more than recognizable champions to keep people engaged in a live service game, and Rivals has already shown it's well aware of that.
A YouTuber named OnlyLegs even recently shared a video of one of his matches that featured four tanks and two supports on their team. You don't do a lot of damage, but you're basically unkillable against a less coordinated or bunched up team, and it proves to be very effective.
Of course, Marvel Rivals is already out of beta in its first season, so there's plenty of time left for NetEase to start making some changes. While I've personally never run into a team of three vanguards and three strategists, I've been stuck on a team where everyone picked Duelist, so a role queue should be coming eventually. Either that, or NetEase will just embrace chaos.
