Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelati, on Tuesday, in a meeting with his counterpart from this country, Hossein Awad, pledged that his country would support the stability and security of Sudan.

Abdelati said Egypt will spare no effort to help “its Sudanese brothers overcome the political, security and humanitarian challenges caused by the ongoing war” in the country.

He highlighted the results of the July 6 and 7 conference in Cairo with the presence of Sudanese political factions and civil groups, the most important of which, according to him, was the recognition of the need to maintain government institutions, provide relief aid and humanitarian aid to Sudan. and neighboring countries, and ensure that ownership of the political process is in the hands of the Sudanese people.

He also reviewed the progress of the development projects carried out by Egypt in Sudan and pledged that his country will continue with such projects and its determination to respond to the humanitarian needs of this country.

Abdulati on the important need of countries and donor organizations to accelerate the fulfillment of the commitments made at the Geneva and Paris conferences, in June 2023 and April 2024, respectively, regarding support for Sudan and neighboring countries hosting Sudanese refugees, support for the humanitarian response plan The United Nations emphasized. in the country and help fill existing financial gaps.

He also discussed with Awad about the regional initiatives that have been proposed to help solve the Sudan crisis and the important and central role of neighboring countries, especially Egypt, which Abdul Lati is making a lot of efforts to help Sudan at this important time.

Other topics discussed included broader bilateral relations and ways to strengthen coordination between countries, along with regional issues of mutual interest, including the situation in the Horn of Africa, the war in Gaza, security in the Red Sea and the situation. in Libya, the Sahel and Sahara region, and the Renaissance Dam built by Ethiopia on the Blue Nile upstream of Sudan and Egypt.

Awad thanked the Egyptian government for the facilities and services it has provided to the Sudanese people since the beginning of the crisis in his country.
