Hunter x Hunter Chapter 405: Two Hisokas

Hunter x Hunter 405, like the previous chapters before it, impresses. in HxH 405, the story moves away from the storylines involving Princes Kakin and Kurapika, and instead focuses on the mafia war and the Phantom Gang.

This season sees the return of fan-favorite Hisoka, as his involvement in this arc only increases. The setup for what's to come is huge.

The return of the real Hisoka

The previously seen Hisoka was Bonolnov

Hunter x Hunter 405 opens with a poker game and features the long-awaited return of Hisoka. previously in HxHfans had seen what they thought was Hisoka being found by Shi Yu members Zakuro and Lynch. However, Hisoka was fake, meaning this is the first time Hisoka has been seen in a long time.

This chapter shows Hisoka's thoughts. It is revealed that Hisoka had no interest in fighting the Chimera Ants despite their insane power. He also didn't like Hulkenburg's ability, realizing it was a group ability and not something he could fight 1v1. Hisoka also revealed that he has no interest in fighting hordes or non-humans, no matter how powerful they are. Hisoka wants to be able to destroy his enemy one by one.

I am normal. Group games or animals involved do nothing for me. All I want is to destroy a partner one by one. – Hisoka

Right after that, fans saw another Hisuka following the first Hisuka. This is not actually the real Hisoka, but Bunolnov, an underrated member of the Spiders, disguised as him using his Nen ability, Metamorphose, at the behest of Crowley. Metamorphose works by allowing Bonolenov to transform into the person he is talking to, and he can maintain this form for as long as he spends face-to-face with that person. Bonolnov also believes that for people who are shorter than him, he can transform for a shorter period of time.

Chrollo has given Bonolenov this dangerous mission to give the mafia families the impression that they have maintained balance in the Black Whale. If the mafia family thinks they have Hisoka under control, they won't have a problem with the Phantoms roaming around. This was seen in previous seasons when a Shi Yu caught a fake Hisoka. But, things don't go according to plan when Lynch, a woman with nen abilities that forces anyone she punches and asks questions to answer honestly, asks Bunolnov if she is Hisoka, to which he says no. This led Bunolnov to kill him because he knew too much. However, he kept Zakuro alive because he needed him.

Currently, Bonolnov has changed his disguise from Hisoka to something resembling an owl, one of the shadow beasts seen in the Yurknio Arc at the time.

Hunt Chrollo for a powerful Nen ability

This destroys Hisoka's Nen ability forever

In Hunter x Hunter 405, Bonolnov seemed concerned about Chrollo's mental state after the deaths of Shalnark and Kortopi. Carollo had asked him to transform into Hisoka, and if he was going to find Hisoka, to transform into someone else and most importantly, not fight him. Bonolnov was more than willing not to fight Hisoka, as he would be too weak anyway.

However, Bonolnov reveals that Carollo didn't bring up any of this during the meeting, presumably because he wanted to handle Hisoka himself. Bunolnov prefers that Nobunaga and his group handle Hisoka due to Crorollo's condition.

It is revealed that Chrollo is actually looking for something in this black whale that gives him the power to kill Hisoka once and for all. The treasure in question definitely refers to Nen's ability that he wants to steal with Skill Hunter. What this ability is though, it's not impossible that Togashi has already demonstrated it in some way. It's possible that whatever ability Crowlo is looking for will spell the end for him once he uses it on Hisoka. This could soon mark the end of Phantom Group's career.

This chapter also shows Carol walking alone. In the news, an announcement was made about the 10th anniversary of what is being described as the brutal murder of a man known as Mr Lisworth. This man posed as the head of an organization that helped underprivileged children. However, what he actually did is much darker. He was one of the men involved in the brutal murder of Sarsa, a little girl from Meteor City, whose death gave birth to the Phantoms.

This man was definitely killed by spiders as revenge 10 years ago. Crollo is simply thinking how sheepish people are to believe this man was a good person and whatever the media says about him.

The Phantom Troupe and The Heil-Ly

• Heil-Ly does not act like a mafia family
• Heil-Ly members are only getting stronger

in HxH 404, the last panel showed Nobunaga with his group, which includes Phytan and Phinx. They had stopped their plan to go directly to Heil-Ly's hideout and instead wanted to go and ask questions of the other mafia families. in HxH 405, fans see them do it. Nobunaga meets Kenny Wang and Tajao, the head and vice president of the Cha-R family. Nobunaga questions them about the leader of Heil-Ly and how they function as a group. Heil-Ly was recently taken over by a new leader, Morena, after the death of the previous leader. Wang admits that they don't know Morena well enough to know his true intentions in whatever happens, because unlike the other 2 mafia families, Heil-Ly kills a lot of innocent civilians.

Nobunaga and his group realize that the Heil-Ly want to destroy everything, which includes everyone on the ship and basically Kakin himself. They also conclude that by killing people they gain more power.

As the chapter ends, Tajao leads Nobunaga's group to a previously sealed door – the one they said they'd be allowed to use once they actually worked together. It is in a passage between different classes of Black Whale.

Hunter X Hunter Chapter 405 also features Morena again along with the rest of the Heil-Ly. Currently, many members are highly leveled, with the highest currently being Dogman, with 62. It has been revealed that he can smell a person's Nen type, skill, and even depending on how close they are. It identifies them completely. To him, Morena asks them to kidnap someone and force them to work with him, but this person is currently unknown. They don't seem to be a Nen user, so it's unclear what he wants with them.
