Marvel shouldn't miss the boat for a character's chance in the gaming spotlight

The industry is seeing a bit of a Marvel renaissance, and a newly popular character should inspire a darker gaming world.

While there are not many details about it Daredevil: Born Again Fans already got a pretty good look at new costumes for Cox's Daredevil and villain Bullseye, but now there's a better look at what the Man Without Fear will be wearing for the upcoming series. As part of Marvel Studios' promotional showcase at the recent New York Comic-Con event, fans were able to get an up-close look at Daredevil's. reborn Suit for display on a mannequin, with iconic boots, gloves and mask. A number of fans in attendance, such as YouTuber Brandon Davis, took to social media to post pictures and videos of the exhibit.

Also on display at the exhibit was a photo of Kingpin, but since the big New Yorker is mostly wearing a suit, fans weren't too eager to check it out. As for Daredevil's costume, it retains much of the Netflix-era look on the headgear and teak elsewhere to match the look the show's directors have in mind for the character in the MCU. Plus, it's different from what Cox used in previous MCU shorts, and still a far cry from the kind of comic-accurate Daredevil look Cox gave him in MCU fan art. Most notably, the suit still lacks its comic book version's Daredevil logo on the chest, keeping in line with previous live-action designs.

The first video preview of the suit in action made it look like that Daredevil: Born Again The suit would fit well with the promised brutal action that has fans skeptical, and the opportunity to get a closer look seems to highlight just that. Form over function is a very important part of adapting a medium like comic books to live action, especially if the show is meant to appeal to an older audience with gritty, earthy story action and movement. This will be especially important for Daredevil from the MCU, as new fans of the show after acts like Captain America: Brave New World and lightning*, And fans of Netflix's era will come into the series premiere skeptical about the MCU's kid-friendly content strategy. To truly succeed, Daredevil needs to remain a mature show that's made for an audience that appeals more.

Even more than tone, it's crucial that Daredevil remains a street-level hero in the MCU, and that includes looking like one. For better or for worse, the suit looks pretty straight out of a cool TV show, and will likely hold that same vibe when the Man Without Fear inevitably needs to help out the franchise's other heroes.

Daredevil: Born Again It is currently slated to launch on Disney Plus in March 2025.
