Goku is significantly stronger than his former mentor, but the fight is still fun. To the point where Goku sees a full moon and has regrown his tail after his last transformation. He transforms into a great ape and Yamcha considers cutting off his tail again to turn him back to normal, but Jackie Chan fires a wave of Kamehameha at Goku, seemingly killing him in his great ape form, but Goku emerges unharmed. His regular humanoid form later and the end of the fight.

Gohan transforms for the first time
After Goku's death during a battle with Raditz, Piccolo steals his son Gohan and takes him to the desert to train him, and when he becomes enraged, he realizes his immense power and considers training him as his guardian. His way of training Gohan is by throwing him into a wilderness filled with wild animals and other challenges, telling him that the first step is to learn how to survive the night.

In the Saiyan Saga Dragon Wing Zafter Nappa's defeat at the hands of Goku, Vegeta brutally kills him out of sheer desperation and challenges Goku to a duel. Vegeta turns out to be a much bigger threat than even Goku anticipated, and puts up an intense fight with Goku, who maxes out his body using the Kaioken times three technique.
Angry at Goku's ability to hold his own in a fight, Vegeta decides to transform into a great ape to finish the job. To his dismay, he discovers that Earth's moon has been destroyed. However, he reveals that the Saiyans have learned to build artificial moons so that they can turn into great apes if they wish, which he does. Eventually, Yajirobe detaches his tail when he is distracted by Gohan, Krillin, and a paralyzed Goku, turning the Saiyan prince back into a humanoid.
4 Dragon Ball Z – Gohan transforms again
Gohan's great ape crushes a wounded plant
After transforming Vegeta into a regular Saiyan, he is severely injured and frustrated with the resilience of Earth's warriors. He bides his time and defeats Yajirobe for cutting off his tail. Meanwhile, he forgets that he left his artificial sun, which Gohan finally looks at. Gohan's tail has grown at this point since it was last cut off by Piccolo. Unlike Vegeta, both Goku and Gohan grew tails at least once in the anime.
This results in Gohan turning into a great ape. To his credit, Vegeta can even survive Gohan's wrath, though mostly by dodging it. He ends up using a Destructo Disc to cut off Gohan's tail. Unfortunately for him, this leads to Gohan falling on top of him as he gradually transforms into a normal Saiyan child, crushing Vegeta in the process.
3 Dragon Ball GT – Goku turns into a great golden ape

Dragon Ball GT It's the next time we see the great ape form, especially in the Baby Vegeta saga. When even Super Saiyan 3 is not enough for Goku to fight the alien parasite Baby in Vegeta's body, he is pushed to the brink. The first non-Saiyan to turn into a monkey
Goku fights Baby Vegeta in his new Super Saiyan 4 transformation. Pushed to the brink by Goku's new form, the child's mind controls Bulma to use her Blutz Wave Generator on him, allowing her to use Vegeta's body to transform into the Golden Ape. . He is an equal match for Goku in this form and is the first time in the series that a non-Saiyan can use this form.
Since Baby is a parasite that uses only a plant's body, he is still able to maintain control of his golden ape form until Goku works with Majuub (Majin Buu fused with Uub) to transform Baby Plant. Defeat him in his great golden monkey form.

In the final battle of Dragon Ball GT, Omega Shenron, combined with other Shenrons, proves to be too much even for Super Saiyan 4 Goku. Vegeta strongly believes that the only way they can defeat him is by using the power of two Super Saiyan 4s. With Goku achieving this transformation by becoming a great ape and gaining control over the form, Vegeta asks Bulma to use the Blutz Wave Generator he made for Baby.
Unlike Goku's Super Saiyan 4 transformation, Vegeta transforms into a normal great ape, much like Goku, until Goku talks to him and Vegeta is finally able to transform into Super Saiyan 4. This is a deviation from the original Vegeta. The monkey transformation is because Vegeta is able to maintain his stream of consciousness even in his great monkey form during his first fight with Goku on Earth.
