Bribbaree DV murder: Man charged with murder after woman dies in house fire, NSW, Young

A man has been charged with murder as his mother died in hospital after suffering severe burns in a NSW house fire.

Emergency services rushed to a home on Bribbaree Road, 50km northwest of Young, about midday on Sunday following reports a woman was injured in a house fire.

A 65-year-old woman was found suffering from severe burns and was flown in a critical condition to Royal North Shore hospital.

A crime scene was established and detectives attached to The Hume Police District began making inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

NCA NewsWire understands the woman’s 42-year-old son turned himself in at Parkes Police Station and was arrested.

Around 3am on Monday, police were told the woman had died in hospital.

The man was charged with murder, wounding causing grievous bodily harm to a person with intent to murder, damaging property worth more than $15,000 by fire, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Three of the charges are listed as domestic-violence related offences.

He was taken into police custody and will appear before Parkes Local Court on Monday.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
