Boxing body offers prize money to beaten Italian amid gender row

PARIS: The International Boxing Association has pledged to award a prize to Italy's Angela Carini, whose 46-second Olympic defeat to an Algerian boxer at the center of a gender qualification contest left the sport on the ropes. After receiving two solid punches to the face, Carini stopped his fight with Algeria's Iman Khalif, refused to shake hands with his opponent and then fell to the canvas in tears.
