Dune: Prophecy and The Penguin: Is HBO Trying to Reclaim the Past?
HBO's two recent blockbusters bear a lot in common with the studio's past heavyweights, but what does that say about their future?
Who dies in Dune Prophecy Part 2?
It was a short but sweet period Dune: Prophecy For Chloe Leah Layla Although Tola Harkonnen (Olivia Williams) foresees her as a future noble mother, Lila is lost in the sisters' efforts to save themselves. While Valia wasn't dealing with the deaths of Lord Provost Riches (Charlie Hudson-Pryor) and Reverend Mother Kasha (Jaehee Kim) in the first episode, she put her sister in charge of the school and asked her to put Leela through “spice.” Doom.”
Tola was preparing Rusak's poison, which is a reference to the ritual associated with its discovery in Rusak in the books. Year 2004 Dune: The Battle of Korin by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson escalated the ritual when he confirmed that Racola Berto-Anirol (Cathy Tyson) had been poisoned by the Rossak witch Ticia Cenva and was able to successfully transform the drug into a harmless substance. One of the side effects of this substance is the ability to visit the combined ego and memories of the female ancestors of the people. However, as Leila's death proves, they are not always happy to receive visitors.
The Agony is already familiar to fans of the original Frank Herbert books and movies. Both Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) and Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) have passed. The most famous of them was Paul, who carried out the torment in it Dune: Part II and appeared on the other side as the legend Kwisatz Haderach/Lisan al Gaib. Spice's torment involves eager noble mothers who swallow the blue substance, but as terrible as it is for them, it's worse for the men. As by Reverend Mother Helen Mohim in sand hillAll the men who tried to change the water of life are dead.

Dune: Messiah gets a disappointing update from Josh Brolin
Josh Brolin talked about his role in Dune: Messiah and when he'll be working on it, and it's not a very good conversation.
After ingesting a lethal poison, Leila metabolized the poison and successfully regained consciousness to meet her ancestors in her other memory. He met Rakula, who was not only the first leader of Bene Gesrit, but also Leila's grandmother. Although Rockola seemed to be there to help her relative, Sister Dorothea's ghost disrupted everything. 30 years before the main events of the series, Valya used the “voice” for the first time and forced Dorothea to kill herself.
As a vengeful Dorothea warns Tula, Valya took her future, so now she will take her “hope.” Since Lila was something of a stepdaughter to Tola, Dorothea delivered a heartbreaking punch to the gut by killing Lila in Wallach IX, thereby killing her physical form. Given that Lila seemed like an underrated character full of promise without the ego of some of the other girls, it was a shock to see her bow out so soon – especially given her connection to Rockola and the fact that Dorothea It was his grandmother.
Layla's death makes perfect sense
There are now theories swirling that Leela may not be gone forever. Herbert Children of the dune Paul's sister, Alia (briefly portrayed by Anya Taylor-Joy in Dune: Part IIPossessed by the spirit of Baron Harkonnen – his biological grandfather. Dorothea is out for revenge, and if she manages to possess Lila while tricking Tola into thinking she's still alive, there could be serious trouble at school.
Most importantly, Lila's death allowed Rakula to warn the sisters of the coming Tiran-Arafel, and she told the young boy:
The key to calculation is to be born twice. Once in the blood. Once in the spice. A return full of wounds. A weapon born of war, in a very short way.
The first episode foreshadowed a great reckoning at the hands of a tyrant, with ominous images haunting the destruction of the Bene Gesserit temple on Wallach IX. Although Leto seemed to foreshadow Atreides II as the God-Emperor of the Hills, the fact that Damond Hart (Travis Fimmel) died on Arrakis and was reborn in the midst of the war makes him another potential player in the role of the legendary Tyrant Arafel.
He also raised another secret among the fans and asked the fans what happened to Layla's mother. Young girls are taken from their biological mothers at birth to prevent them from bonding, and although Tola told Leela that her mother died in childbirth, this appears to be another lie from the Harkonnens. A hopeful Lila suggested that she might see her mother in her other memory, but when Dorothea emerged from the shadows, she told Lila that her mysterious mother was not there. Instead, he suggested that the Bene Gesserit use it as a tool to lure Leila there.
It is known that Laila's mother did not die in childbirth. Since she no longer exists in his memory, if she is still alive, it could have major consequences. Whether she's a previously introduced character or someone still making her debut, Rockola's granddaughter can be a powerful ally or a formidable foe. There's a reason Valya and Tola are keeping her fate a secret, but with Leila dead, the past could catch up with the Harkonnen sisters. After all, Desmond Hart has already shown Valia that she's not as powerful as she thinks.
Even if Leela is gone in a physical form, she can appear further. As Emmeline's sister (Aofie Hinds) said to Leila before her doom:
Reverend mothers know better than anyone that the dead are not gone.
There is an element of tragedy that Leila chose to suffer herself. But with Raquella's line losing another, it feels like the continuing mistakes of the Harkonnen line are coming back to bite Valia and Tula. In the show's opening, it was said to be about correcting the inaccuracies of House Harkonnen's history, but the Mother Superior may be headed for her own version of the Duniverse. Macbeth.
