An alleged intruder has been caught on camera eating gym supplements, inflating a Christmas decoration before allegedly stealing $9000 worth of property.
When he was found by an early-morning gym patron, he was deep-cleaning the bathroom.
Surveillance video captured the bizarre incident, which began when the man allegedly broke into ACTS gym in Ashmore about 6pm on December 7.
In the footage, he is seen bee-lining for the front counter where he searched for food and drink, devouring spoonfuls of protein powder and guzzling down seven energy drinks.
One of the most strange parts of the man’s late night adventure was when he pulled an inflatable Christmas decoration from under the desk and blew it up.
“He spent the whole night in there, had a shower and looked like he enjoyed himself,” owner Paris Lightfoot told the Gold Coast Bulletin.
The man was discovered when club member and ex-Gold Coast Titans NRL star Zeb Taia opened the gym up at 4.40am.
He claims he found him in the middle of deep-cleaning the bathroom and when he asked him who he was, he said his name was “Bobby”.
A police spokesperson said an investigation into the incident is underway.
“A man gained access by forcing a door to the Currumburra Rd gym,” the spokesperson said.
“While at the premises he stole several items of electrical equipment along with gym equipment and put them in a bag and box to carry them out.”
Ms Lightfoot alleges $9,000 worth of property was stolen including a laptop, iPad, cash, branded merchandise, in addition to the energy drinks.
Anyone with any information to offer police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
The ACTV gym franchise was founded by surf ironman Ali Day and is owned by state-league Australian rules players Paris Lightfoot and Jackson Fisher.
