Al-Mukalla: Yemen's Houthi militias rejected the request of Abdul Wahab Qatran, an outspoken rights activist released from prison, to fly abroad for medical treatment.
Qatran's son, Mohammad, told Arab News on Monday that the Houthis rejected his father's request to fly to Egypt to treat illnesses contracted in prison.
The Houthis released Qazi Qatran in June after spending six months in a security and intelligence center on charges of spreading false information about their militia and its commanders, inciting people against them, and accusing Houthi leaders of corruption.
Mohammad said his father needed urgent medical attention due to blood pressure, skin and eye problems.
After his release, Qatran accused the Houthis of forcibly detaining him in Sana'a Security and Intelligence Prison, looting his house, papers and belongings, and depriving him of medical care, clean water and sufficient food, conditions that caused him to suffer Skin diseases.
In a post on his new Facebook page this week, Qatran said he was informed by a doctor in Sana'a that it was likely due to severe itching and red spots on his skin after washing in the dark and rusty water at the Houthi detention center. Ha is suffering from scabies. .

Qatran also published a 14-page report by Houthi investigators on Sunday that accused him of more than 40 charges, including calling on people to rise up against the militias, accusing the Houthis of enrichment and corruption, and expressing sympathy for activists.
