Manzar: Pakistani Art and Architecture from the 1940s to Today, which runs from November 1 to January 31, brings together more than 200 works of art – including paintings, drawings, photographs, films, sculptures, installations, tapestries and Miniatures, plus custom works. by artists and architects currently living and working in Pakistan and diaspora countries – to present different perspectives of the country's artistic and architectural movements.
Organized by the Future Mill Art Museum and presented in collaboration with the National Museum of Qatar, which will host the exhibition, MANZAR presents the diverse output of painters, photographers, architects and others, a collection of narratives, histories, and stories. have defined A contemporary view of Pakistani culture in the past 80 years, artworks, programs and events extend from the gallery spaces to the courtyard of the Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani Palace for a broad immersion in the art and architecture of Pakistan.
Designed by renowned architect Reza Ali Dada and unfolding in 12 sections, this ground-breaking exhibition shows how artists responded to and reimagined international modernist movements.
It reveals the landscape of lesser-known global art histories and shows how they fit into broader social and cultural trends. Through thematic galleries dedicated to aesthetic experimentation and calligraphy, nation-building, regionalism, neo-miniature, urban vernacular, and land and water politics, the exhibition offers a vision of Pakistani art through unprecedented loans from government institutions. such as the Alhamra Art Museum in Lahore and the Pakistan National Council of Arts in Islamabad. Loans from private collections across Pakistan and in Dubai, London and New York. and also works from the collection of Qatar museums.
