PORT SUDAN: Sudanese militia forces attacked al-Fasher on Saturday, killing 22 people in the last Darfur town beyond their control, witnesses said, according to a hospital source. Al-Fasher has become a key battleground in the 15-month war, which has pitted the militia's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against the regular army. The battle for the capital of North Darfur state, seen as vital for humanitarian aid in a region on the brink of famine, has raged for more than two months.
